    The city of Alpharetta has greenlit a $150,000 study to determine the feasibility of building a hockey arena at the North Point Mall site in its latest move to lure an expansion National Hockey League team and revive the waning district. The Alpharetta Convention and Visitors Bureau unanimously voted Tuesday to provide $75,000 in funding for the market and financial feasibility study to be conducted by CAA Icon, a sports business consulting firm.

Mary Beth Thomas, 84, requires a wheelchair, while others use the assistance of a walker. Some have auditory or visual impairments, like Fowler Bush, 84, who is nearly blind. “It‘s just a chore getting outside, and it‘s dangerous,” Bush said.

    About a hundred people gathered in Decatur to kick off a nationwide tour led by local activists to reenergize Black voters and create a national agenda for racial equality and Black empowerment. The inaugural “State of the People POWER Tour” began in Atlanta and will visit 11 other cities across the country, leading up to Juneteenth.     U.S. Sen. Jon Ossoff hosted this year’s Georgia Military Service Academy Day at Dobbins Air Reserve Base on Saturday, attracting its largest crowd since the COVID-19 pandemic. Approximately 1,000 parents and students interested in joining the military gathered at the Marietta base to learn about the five service academies and tour various aircrafts at the largest service academy day event in the U.S., according to a Dobbins spokesperson.
