It’s a welcome sight for people who still don’t know where they are going to live after their homes were destroyed. They have many questions after so much loss. “As you can see, we lost everything. But we are very grateful to be here,” said Getson Roberts, looking over what used to be an apartment complex, now a debris pile.

Officials in Laurel County say there’s been at least one suicide tied to the tornado. The biggest issue right now is best described as PTSD, and it’s impacting both adults and children. A doctor at CHI St. Joseph in London says the most important thing is that people need to seek help, and it’s available in numerous ways.

Major Leslie “Les” Leatherman passed away while he was shielding his wife from debris during the deadly tornado on May 16. PREVIOUSLeslie Leatherman was a major for the Laurel County Fire Department, and quite literally his final act was running toward, not away from the danger. “He was the calm in the storm,” said Deputy Chief Terry Wattenbarger.
