    Steve McMichael, a Freer graduate who went on to success at the University of Texas and had a 15-year NFL career that ended with his induction into the Pro Football Hall of Fame died on Wednesday, per multiple reports. McMichael publicly battled amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, commonly known as ALS or Lou Gehrig's disease, in recent years and was championed for a bust in Canton for years before he was finally elected last year. McMichael was 67.
