A 50-year-old resident of a border village in Punjab’s Ferozepur district, who had sustained 100 per cent burn injuries in a suspected drone attack from across the Pakistan border on the evening of May 9, succumbed to her injuries in Ludhiana’s Dayanand Medical College and Hospital (DMCH) early Tuesday. Sukhwinder Kaur, a resident of Khai Feme Ki village, was injured at around 9.30 pm on May 8 when the drone fell on the house, and the area was under blackout.

Punjab Police on Sunday said it has arrested two people, including a woman, for their alleged involvement in espionage activities linked to a Pakistani official posted at the High Commission in Delhi. Based on credible intelligence, a suspect was arrested for leaking sensitive information to a Pakistan-based handler regarding Indian Army movements, Director General of Police Gaurav Yadav said. Those arrested have been identified as 31-year-old Guzala and Yameen Mohamad, residents of Malerkotla.
