Our festival lineup will have thousands of fiber artists, and jewelry makers!Holidays tend to sneak up on me. I always intend to buy or make presents early, but somehow, the weeks slip by, and before I know it, it’s five days before Christmas, and I haven’t bought or made a thing.

March 6, 2024 Washington State University Regents professor Guy Palmer was one of 65 scientists elected to the American Academy of Microbiology’s Class of 2024. Fellows of the American Academy of Microbiology, an honorific leadership group within the American Society for Microbiology (ASM), are elected annually through a highly selective, peer-review process, based on their records of scientific achievement and original contributions that have advanced microbiology.

Six high school teams entered but only one emerged victorious in a recent esports tournament hosted by Washington State University Global Campus to determine the Rocket League State Champion for 2023-2024. The Feb. 24 tournament had students competing against each other in the video game “Rocket League.” The event was held in partnership with the Washington State Scholastic Esports Association (WSSEA).

A partnership between Washington State University’s Center for Civic Engagement and the LAUNCH Program is bringing service-learning into the classroom, with positive impacts on student success. During the fall 2023 semester, CCE and the LAUNCH Program (part of the Transformational Change Initiative in the provost’s office) collaborated on an effort to include service-learning in Psychology 105 and Human Development 200 courses.

Members of the Washington State University Board of Regents advanced several building projects as part of the governing body’s Friday meeting in Vancouver. Among those projects is the Champions Center on the WSU Pullman campus, which is envisioned as a future hub for student athletes to receive academic, mental health and professional development services. The project’s approved budget of $9.4 million is being entirely funded by donations, with construction slated to begin this winter.
