SALISBURY, Md.- A new survey out by Salisbury University students finds a majority of Wicomico County residents believe litter is a problem and want some solutions. Professor Ryan Weaver says while the data may be obvious to some, the study now offers a launching pad for change. "93 percent of the Wicomico County respondents agreed that roadside litter is a problem in Wicomico County," said Weaver.

PARSONSBURG, Md.- Wicomico County Public Library will have a new branch in Parsonsburg, named the Lewis R. Riley Library. Born in Parsonsburg in 1935, Riley was elected to the Wicomico County Council from 1966 to to 1978. Riley was then elected to the Maryland House of Delegates from 1979 to to 1987. Riley served in the State Senate from 1987 to 1992. Riley then earned what he called his ‘dream job’, Maryland’s Secretary of Agriculture from 2003 to 2007.

SALISBURY, Md.- New artwork is coming to Salisbury’s Newton Street Community Center. Salisbury University’s PACE (Institute for Public Affairs and Civic Engagement) Presidential Citizen students are working with Salisbury’s public art committee. The collaboration sought feedback from community members on how they’d like the street art to look. The honeycomb artwork will be across from the Camden Community Garden and the Tot Lot Playground.

BETHANY BEACH, De. - An early Wednesday morning fire damaged 6 townhomes in Bethany Beach. Those living inside the homes were able to escape without injury. Bethany Beach Fire Chief Tyler Hickman tells WBOC the fire broke out around 2:00 AM and took crews 90 minutes to extinguish. In addition to the Bethany Beach Fire Company, fire crews from Ocean City, Millsboro, Dagsboro and Roxana worked to put out the fire. By 6:30 AM all crews had left the scene.

SALISBURY, Md.- Habitat for Humanity is asking Wicomico County to consider two housing proposals. The first is a tax incentive for building non-profits like Habitat for Humanity. Molly Hilligoss, CEO of Habitat for Humanity Wicomico County says the tax credit for up to 5 years would help their organization cover costs of properties it purchases as it rehabilities homes for families in need.
