SYRACUSE, N.Y. (WSYR-TV)— More than 300 people laced up their sneakers for the 9th annual Step Up 4 Kids 5K and Fun Run, Sunday morning. NewsChannel 9 anchor Rachel Polansky emceed the event, which directly benefits the McMahon Ryan Child Advocacy Center. The center provides healing services to victims of child abuse, along with prevention education in local schools. 1,877 child victims of sexual or physical abuse were provided a path to healing at McMahon Ryan, this past year.

BRUTUS, N.Y. (WSYR-TV) — 911 dispatchers confirm that one person has been taken to the hospital after a mobile home caught fire at Shadybrook Estates. This is off Route 5 in the town of Brutus, just over the Onondaga County border, not far from Millstone Golf Course. The fire started just after 6:30 a.m. Friday morning. When a NewsChannel 9 photographer arrived, around a dozen firefighters were still working. Black smoke could be seen coming from what was left of the heavily damaged mobile home.
