It’s good to be back in Iowa. I became the Des Moines Register executive editor on June 2. Like many of you, I’m a returnee to the Hawkeye State. Nebraska voters have an abundance of choices this November. Not only is there the presidential election, which has already featured more shakes up than a snow globe, there are, unusually, two U.S. Senate races, with Republican incumbents looking to hold off challengers, and, more expectedly, three U.S. House races. Plus, there are statewide races for those who will shape Nebraska’s education systems. Voters will also make choices for the nonpartisan, unicameral Nebraska Legislature.

You may be a fan of Nebraska sports and a follower of the Omaha World-Herald’s award-winning sports coverage, but there’s a key player in the state’s sports world that you probably don’t know: Kristin Donovan. Donovan, The World-Herald’s deputy sports editor, is one of the people who edits many of the sports stories, agonizes over which photos to use and designs the sports special sections.
