A proposed city ordinance would give Omaha police another tool to curb racing and stunt driving on city streets by allowing officers to tow the vehicles of participants and spectators in addition to fines and other penalties. Kevin Slimp, an Omaha city prosecutor, said communities around the country have been seeing an increase in dangerous driving that sometimes involves large crowds and spectators who use their vehicles to block intersections and the orderly flow of traffic.

Nebraska Medicine began construction this week on a $36 million project to add a first-of-its-kind proton therapy to the Fred & Pamela Buffett Cancer Center in Omaha. While it will take two years to complete the installation, proton therapy is expected to deliver significant benefits to certain patients, particularly children, with their still-developing brains and bodies.
