Pressure has mounted for the California Legislature to take action on a bill that would expand tax credits for the film and television industry after an April 14 quarterly report from Film LA showed a 22.4% decrease in overall production compared to 2024. When isolated to feature film production and television production, the numbers fell 28.9% and 30.5%, respectively.

Work has begun on refilling the Melrose Triangle pit nearly two months after the West Hollywood City Council ordered the Charles Company to fill it with dirt. For more than a decade, a largescale development had been planned for the site, which would have brought 225,000 square feet of office space and 80 residential units to the corner of Melrose Avenue, Santa Monica Boulevard and Almont Drive. It also included 526 subterranean parking spaces, which is why the lot had been excavated.

On April 14, the West Hollywood Historical Preservation Commission voted to recommend the City Council reassess the historical status of Greenacre Avenue, a cul-de-sac on the city’s east side which contains 36 1940s-era single family residences. In 2022, another West Hollywood cul-de-sac on Betty Way was determined to be eligible for historical designation, but a concurrent study did not find Greenacre Avenue to qualify.

While details of LA Pride have not been announced, one previous participant will not be returning to its Pride Parade on June 8. The city of West Hollywood, which will host its own Pride celebration the previous week, has opted instead to send a delegation to World Pride, which will be held in Washington, D.C., also on June 8. Mayor Chelsea Byers said that the city’s presence at World Pride was a part of a larger message.
