Work and Income clients are facing long wait times on the phone, with some struggling to access help in urgent situations. Data released to RNZ under the Official Information Act shows the longest wait time for the 0800 number in the year to February 2025 was 2 hours and 7 minutes. When RNZ called the 0800 number four times this month, the shortest wait was over 70 minutes.
