10 1/1 OUR school nostalgia spreads are proving a hit with readers. You recently joined us on a trip down memory lane to revisit both the Gilberd School and Colchester Sixth Form. So for today’s spread, we’re heading back to the classroom with a trip to Colchester’s St Helena School. Opened in 1938, it was originally two separate schools - one for boys and another for girls.

The war's conclusion in Europe was announced 78 years ago by the BBC on the evening of May 7 and Churchill declared the following day a public holiday to be named VE Day.

Plans to redevelop part of the site include demolishing some buildings to make way for 139 new houses and a container ship market.
