Tuesday is Election Day, and experts expect voter turnout will be significant. It’s already proven to be in Kentucky based on early voting tallies. While the presidential race is a motivator for many, there are other federal, state and local races that could change the political makeup of jurisdictions all over Kentucky and Indiana, and some ballot amendment proposals. November elections get all the glory. But this year more than half of the state races in Kentucky will be decided by the end of the primary election. For some candidates, filing their paperwork to run has essentially secured them their office because no one else filed to run against them. In 20 races, the candidate who wins the primary will not face an opponent in the general election, meaning they’ll basically get the job.

Louisville and Southern Indiana were among the regions under a tornado watch early Tuesday. Though much of it was called off by mid-morning, another round of storms is possible Tuesday afternoon. Kevin Farina, a meteorologist from the National Weather Service in Louisville, confirmed strong thunderstorms with reports of some tornadoes Tuesday morning. He said NWS officials were surveying storm damage after the worst of it passed through the region.
