CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa (IOWA'S NEWS NOW) — Monday was a hot topic around eastern Iowa - I was fielding questions about it all weekend as the potential for severe weather seemed to increase. The Storm Prediction Center puts out a forecast and had much of eastern Iowa at a 4 out of 5 three days in advance. That doesn't happen too often... No doubt, the potential was all there. The ingredients for severe weather (instability, moisture, wind shear) were all on the high side.

CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa (IOWA'S NEWS NOW) — The atmosphere will be extremely volatile today in eastern Iowa. However, there's the potential many of us don't see any storms *at all.*The ingredients will be in place for a significant severe weather outbreak, including strong tornadoes and very large hail. But there's a piece of the puzzle missing, leading to uncertainty in storms forming in eastern Iowa. THE BOTTOM LINE: IF storms develop, they will be dangerous and destructive.

CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa (IOWA'S NEWS NOW) — There's still a lot of uncertainty in the details, but tornadoes, large hail, and damaging winds are possible Monday in Iowa. A strong storm has the potential to lead to a severe weather outbreak. Strong winds in the atmosphere, coupled with high instability at the surface, is leading to this concern. Make sure you're keeping up-to-date on Monday's forecast from reliable sources and be prepared to change any plans (especially outdoor plans).

CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa (IOWA'S NEWS NOW) — It's been an active week with rain nearly every night in eastern Iowa. Strong storms brought hail, gusty winds, and heavy rain to spots. The rain has been beneficial and has led to improvement in the drought conditions in eastern Iowa. However, repeated round of heavy rain could lead to rises on area rivers and localized flooding. Some scattered rain will continue to move through the area Thursday with widespread showers and storms overnight.
