The Plainview-Hale County Airport Board is considering a proposal from AT&T to alter its lease agreement for antennas on the control tower. Decommissioned by the Federal Aviation Administration in August 1981, the tower has remained in place as a spot for communications antennas. Plainview-Hale County Airport Board members first heard AT&T's proposal in February and have since requested more information from the telecom giant before making a decision on the deal.

Lazbuddie Lady Horns golf won the district championship Monday in Tulia. Lazbuddie finished 25 strokes ahead of district runner-up Happy with a score of 428. Lazbuddie's competitors at the district tournament were senior Jacey McDonald, who shot a 100; senior Ila Combs, who shot a 105; senior Kobi Kirby, who shot a 110; sophomore Deveny Pacheco, who shot a 113; senior Blaykin Branscum, who shot a 117; sophomore Randi Hughes, who shot a 121; and freshman Brooke Cleavinger, who shot a 139.

A slew of track and field athletes from across the region qualified for upcoming area meets. To qualify, athletes must have placed fourth or better in their event at last week's district meets, according to UIL rules. Student-athletes who excel at the area meet advance to regionals, where they attempt to qualify for the state meet in May. Plainview athletes Jaiden Esquivel and Ava Rushing were among this season's area qualifiers.

Dozens packed the Fair Theater on Friday for the Hale County Child Welfare Board's annual Child Abuse Prevention and Awareness Ceremony. Held in April to recognize National Child Abuse Prevention Month, the event featured several speakers from various child welfare organizations. Following the ceremony, the board placed pinwheels across the street at Millennium Park as a visual representation of Hale County children affected by child abuse.
