    EUGENE, Ore. — Texas A&M finished second in the men's 4x400 relay, the final event of the night on Friday, to earn a share of the national championship with USC. The Aggies, who now have five men's outdoor national titles, were fourth in the team standings going into the relay. They trailed USC by seven, Auburn by two and Arkansas by one.

That’s only part of the subtext behind Texas’ decision about this time last year to part ways with coach David Pierce and hire Jim Schlossnagle away from Texas A&M.
