ELMIRA HEIGHTS, NY (WENY) -- A building that once housed a number of businesses over the years was torn down on Wednesday. The building that was last home to The Flower Cart is now just a pile of rubble at 355 East 14th Street, at the corner of Grand Central Avenue. The building had been vacant for about 20 years, as the Flower Cart closed in 2005. The building also previously housed apartments upstairs. According to property tax records, it was built in 1940.

CORNING, NY (WENY) -- The United Way of the Southern Tier is once again hosting its annual diaper drive. People across Chemung and Schuyler counties are asked to donate diapers, Pull Ups, baby wipes, baby food, formula, baby cereal and sippy cups, to be distributed to local families in need. WIC and SNAP programs do not cover diapers and wipes; a baby will go through on average 2,200 diapers its first year of life. There are a couple ways you can help.

ELMIRA, NY (WENY) -- A business on Elmira's south side went up in flames Friday evening. Fire crews were called to the scene of a fire at McDonald Contracting on South Kinyon Street in Elmira just after 9 P.M. Within minutes, the business was engulfed in flames. Firefighters from the city of Elmira, Southport, Elmira Heights, and West Elmira were among the crews responding to the scene.

BRADFORD COUNTY:- April 12: Middlebury Baptist Annual Easter Egg Hunt, 44 Parliff Lane, Middlebury Center. Events begin at 1PM; eggs hidden across age-divided areas. - April 12: Egg Hunt in the Park, Ridgebury Township Community Park, 13278 Berwick Turnpike, Gillett. Egg hunt begins at noon; large and small prizes for all age groups.
