ALPINE, N.Y. (WETM) – Odessa-Montour teacher Holly Campbell is set to share her story on America’s Got Talent July 18. Holly’s son Jake passed away when he was just two and a half months old. In his final moments, the Campbells decided to help another family from losing a child. Jake’s heart and corneas were donated to a young boy in Iowa. From there, a bond was formed.

HORSEHEADS, N.Y. (WETM) – For families looking to do something fun with their kids this summer, the Horseheads Family Resource Center’s Summer Lunch Program might just be for you. The organization hosts the summer program Monday through Friday every week until August 18. The program is held at Thorne Street Park at noon. Kids eighteen and under are provided with a free lunch. Lunches can range from Lunchables to subs or even peanut butter and jelly sandwiches. No registration is required.

HORNELL, N.Y. (WETM) – The proposed Tim Horton’s in Hornell is expected to open in 2024. CDT Enterprises plans to demolish this old Planned Parenthood building and the parking lot surrounding it. The new 1,600 square foot building will be on 111 Seneca Street and will offer a single drive thru and sit in dining. Construction isn’t expected to start until next year. “We’re probably going to look at starting construction in 2024. as early as we can, you know March-April 2024.

WATKINS GLEN, N.Y. (WETM) – Schuyler County Administrator Fonda Chronis is now on administrative leave. The question remains: why? Chronis was placed on administrative leave yesterday, being noticeably absent from the legislature meeting July 10. This morning, Chronis was removed from the county’s website, leaving us to wonder: has he been fired? We paid Chronis a visit, but he did not respond to any of the three doors we knocked on.
Starbucks found guilty of labor violations in Ithaca

ITHACA, N.Y. (WETM) – Starbucks has been found guilty of violating U.S. labor laws in its Ithaca locations. The National Labor Relations Board ruled in favor of employees July 6. This comes after more than a year of disputes between Starbucks Workers United and the company. Judge Arthur J. Amchan says Starbucks violated the national labor relations act several times. The company reportedly dismissed and punished employees after hearing of unionization efforts.
