A North Carolina company has been rebuilding private roads and driveways damaged or destroyed by Hurricane Helene at no cost as recovery efforts continue. The South Carolina General Assembly has proposed starting teacher salary increases as part of their proposed budget, which now heads to the governor's desk. State Rep. Bruce Bannister, R-Greenville County, said lawmakers are setting aside about $112 million in the proposed budget to pay for a $1,500 increase to $48,500. "We were paying $18,000 to $20,000 a year not too long ago, and so we did see a talent drain," Bannister said.
