BOSTON (WWLP) – ESPN reports that the Boston Celtics have been sold for $6.1 billion, the largest amount ever for a North American sports franchise. The team will be purchased by William Chisholm, a Massachusetts native who founded the California-based private equity firm Symphony Technology Group. This comes months after the current ownership group led by the Grousbeck family announced their intention to sell 51% of the franchise. Wyc Grousbeck is expected to stay at the team governor until 2028.

CHICOPEE, Mass. (WWLP) – Rich Tettemer, longtime 22News Anchor, announced Wednesday morning that he is retiring after 37 years at WWLP-22News. Rich’s career in broadcasting began back in January 1984 as a videotape editor at WFLA in Tampa, Florida. He then went on to become a Weekend Sports Anchor at KODE-TV in Joplin, Missouri. Rich joined the 22News team on April 18, 1988, which was Patriot’s Day with both the Boston Marathon and the Red Sox morning game, and handled the busy day smoothly.

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP)– A local couple have been named as the Rotary Club of Springfield’s “Service Above Self” award winners. John and Brenda Sjoberg are familiar faces here in western Massachusetts. John is president and CEO of New England Business Machine, and Brenda is a communications professor at Western New England University, and of course, a one time anchor here at 22News.
