    Cleveland)- A 79-year-old Cleveland man was killed early Monday in an ultra-light crash at the Mountain Airpark Airport, a private airfield in southern White County. White County Emergency personnel were dispatched to the scene at 8:42 AM. White County Sheriff’s Office Captain Clay Hammond advised in a news release that the Sheriff’s Office responded to 935 Runway Circle, Cleveland in reference to an ultra-light airplane that crashed in the area.

    Eva May Williams Thomas, 87, passed away on Saturday, May 18, 2024 at her home in Demorest, Georgia. She was born March 4, 1937 in Toccoa, Georgia to her parents Vandiver and Suler Garrison. Mrs. Eva May married Tommy Williams in 1955 and they had four children: Barry, Winford, Glenn, and Theresa Williams. They were married for 44 years until his passing in 1999.

    Ruth Spain Harris, age 82, of Homer, Georgia went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, May 16, 2024. Mrs. Harris was born on June 30, 1941 in Atlanta, Georgia and raised in Charleston, South Carolina by the late Roy Spain and Lucille Pearl Herron Spain. She graduated from Johns Island High School and held a deep affection for her hometown, where she loved to visit and reminisce with her roots. Ruth was a devout member of Charity Baptist Church.

Born October 15, 1937 in Rockmart Georgia to Thomas Lanham of Aragon Georgia and Elizabeth Hook of Wellsville Missouri. He spent his childhood in St. Augustine Florida. He proudly served for 23 years in the United States Air Force retiring at the rank of Chief Master Sargent as Aeromedical Super Intendant of Tyndall Air Force Base Hospital.
