On Monday, May 5, 2025, he came to Beckley to discuss what he has done, and what he plans to do, for folks in the southern part of the state. About a month after his inauguration, Morrisey was thrown into the deep end as southern West Virginia was rocked by flooding that devastated communities across multiple counties.

BECKLEY, WV (WVNS) – Mountaineer Ford on Eisenhower Dr. in Beckley was broken into on Monday, March 10, 2025, according to Raleigh County Sheriff Frank Priddy. The incident is being investigated by the Raleigh County Sheriff’s Office and the Beckley Police Department. WELCH, WV (WVNS) – On February 15 and 16, 2025, homes in McDowell County were destroyed, cars washed away, and we have now learned that some people in the county lost loved ones. Life will never be the same for many people across the county. But Monday, February 17, 2025, in the city of Welch, the community gathered to try to take the first steps in putting people’s lives back together. Clean up is underway in Welch after storms flooded most of McDowell County.
