The Imperial War Museum has shared a video of a Pals Battalion march through their hometown almost 110 years ago. The footage - shared on the museum's X/Twitter account - shows the fighting fit men marching with their rifles shouldered. Taken on August 1, 1915 - during the First World War - the footage is of the Accrington Pals Battalion. World War One was billed as an adventure to young men in a bid to get them on board with the war effort and enlist.

An astrophysicist at the University of Central Lancashire (UCLan) continues to draw attention for her achievements. PhD student Dr Alexia Lopez, 28, discovered the Giant Arc - a gigantic, ring-shaped structure in space. It is made up of galaxies and galaxy clusters that scientists say is so big - it challenges our understanding of the universe. She also discovered another colossal finding in the sky, the Big Ring.
