New data from the California Office of Emergency Services (Cal OES) shows significant improvement in 911 answering times by the Oakland Police Department. For years, the Oakland Police Department (OPD) has had the worst 911 answering time in California. At times, the Department’s response times were four times the state’s standard. Cal OES’ standard requirement for dispatcher centers is to answer 90% of all 911 calls within 15 seconds.

A legally blind senior in Oakland who suffers from a host of other medical issues faces the possibility of being homeless as soon as next week after a judge sided with his landlord in court. In February, the same judge had reversed a default eviction judgement against Gary Gilbert, 67, and ordered his landlords to let Gilbert back into his home.

One of the newest members of Team USA figure skating, Sadusky struggled with being different in the sport. But, he's embracing that journey on and off the ice. NBC Bay Area caught up with the Team USA pairs figure skater practicing on his home ice rink, Oakland Ice Center. The 27-year-old moved to Colorado four years ago to train. This is Sadusky's first season on Team USA.
