The controversial President’s Park apartments project in Lewiston has moved another step forward. The Lewiston Town Board voted 3-1 last week to accept the concept plans for the complex on Washington Drive, moving it further in the approval process. Joe Jacoby, the lone councilman present voting against it, said he felt this was an oversized development that did not fit in with the neighborhood. “In my opinion, it’s an improper project for our community,” Jacoby said.

Hundreds of workers at four WNY nursing homes have approved new agreements with management. The Schofield Residence in Tonawanda, Safire Rehabilitations of Northtowns in Tonawanda, Williamsville Suburban Care Center, and Comprehensive Rehabilitation and Nursing Center at Williamsville workers, represented by 1199SEIU United Healthcare Workers East, voted for approval.

The Town of Wheatfield is divided between four zip codes and has long wanted to rectify that. Town officials this week gave their support to federal legislation that would create a new zip code for the town. It is working with Congressman Tim Kennedy’s office on the effort, as only Congress can grant the request.
