A retired Baltimore City police officer will spend the rest of his life in jail for sexually abusing a child at his ex-wife’s day care. James Weems Jr. was convicted Monday. The abuse allegedly occurred on a playground at the “Lil Kidz Castle Daycare Center” in Owings Mills in 2o22. Weems’ ex-wife, Shanteari Weems, is also serving prison time. She was convicted for shooting her ex-husband when she found out about the allegations.

The tributes continue to pour in for Vicki Brick-Zupancic, the former McDonough School and University of Maryland basketball star who became CEO of the Brick Bodies Fitness chain. Brick died Tuesday of ovarian cancer. After playing professional basketball in Australia and the Philippines, Brick joined her family’s fitness chain Brick Bodies, managing the Reisterstown center. Brick later became CEO of the chain of fitness centers started by her parents Lynne and Victor Brick.
