WBAL (1090 kHz AM) is a radio station in Baltimore, Maryland, focusing on News, Talk, and Sports. It is owned by the Hearst Corporation and operates from a three-tower facility in Randallstown, Maryland. The station shares its workspace with WBAL-TV (channel 11) and WIYY (97.9 FM, which was previously known as WBAL-FM) at Television Hill in Baltimore's Woodberry area. As a Class A clear-channel station with a power of 50,000 watts, WBAL holds the title of the most powerful radio station in Maryland. Its directional signal at night can reach much of the eastern half of North America, extending as far as Nova Scotia and Bermuda. During the day, the signal effectively covers a large part of the Washington metropolitan area, as well as significant portions of the Eastern Shore, Delaware, and Pennsylvania. WBAL boasts the largest news team of any radio station in Maryland. Notably, WBAL and WIYY are the only two radio stations still owned by Hearst.

    State investigators identified those involved in a fatal police shooting, as differing scenarios are emerging over what happened Tuesday. The Maryland Attorney General’s Independent Investigations Division identified the man as Bilal Yusuf-Muhammad Abdullah Jr., 36, of Baltimore. The IID also identified the officers as Detectives Devin Yancy and Omar Rodriguez, who are both assigned to the Group Violence Unit; and Officer Ashely Negron, who is assigned to the Patrol Division.

    A family member of Bilal Yusuf-Muhammad Abdullah Jr. spoke to 11 News at a rally Friday night in honor of the man shot by police on Tuesday. Abdullah, 36, of Baltimore, was shot and killed by police, and city and state agencies have provided differing stories on what happened.
