Fierce overnight summer storms left thousands of people without power and a trail of damage through Central Illinois on Tuesday. The National Weather Service at Lincoln said wind gusts exceeded 70 mph throughout the region. Reports of downed trees, snapped limbs and other property damage were rolling in throughout the night, according to the agency's website.

Stirniman isn’t alone in thinking about transition. Four of the five Bloomington-Normal Catholic churches will say goodbye this weekend to their pastors and greet new ones Monday.

    BLOOMINGTON — None of Bloomington-Normal's Roman Catholic churches will close but four of the five will have different pastors, starting July 1, under the final Peoria Diocese reorganization plan announced Saturday evening. Reassigned priests are Father Gregory Nelson of St. Mary in Bloomington, Monsignor Eric Powell of Epiphany in Normal and Father Jeffrey Stirniman of Holy Trinity and Historic St. Patrick in Bloomington.
