BLOOMINGTON — A newly released version of the Catholic Diocese of Peoria’s restructuring plan for Central Illinois churches would spare Bloomington’s Holy Trinity from previously announced possible closure — at least for two years. The third draft model of the Growing Disciples Pastoral Plan, released to the public Sunday, still calls for the merger of some parishes and closure of several churches across the region, but details differ.

BLOOMINGTON — A smoky fire in which wind-driven flames erupted through the roof gutted much of a Bloomington apartment building Monday night, but initial reports indicated there were no injuries. The building was left uninhabitable, and the cause remained under investigation late Monday night, said Capt. Frank Friend, public information officer for the Bloomington Fire Department. The number of residents displaced was still being determined late Monday night.

BLOOMINGTON — Bloomington firefighters were battling an apartment building fire at 1311 N. Hershey Road on Monday night. With the announcement that Utah is the preferred candidate to host the 2034 winter Olympics, a frustrating narrative has appeared that the pollution in the Salt Lake Valley and Utah needs to be reduced to once again show to the world that Utah is a beautiful state. This narrative is frustrating because first, why do the political leaders feel that the only reason to reduce pollution and improve air quality is because the world is watching? Is the health of their constituents not enough?
