A motorcyclist in his 20s has died following a collision with a car in Limerick on Monday evening. Gardaí are appealing for any witnesses to the collision, which occurred at the intersection of R521 and R523 in Ardagh village, to come forward. Gardaí and emergency services responded to the collision and the motorcyclist, a man in his 20s, was pronounced deceased at the scene.

Two adults and two children under the age of 10 have been rushed to hospital following a two-car collision in Sligo. Gardaí and emergency services attended the collision, which occurred on the N59 in Ballysadare at approximately 2.30pm on Monday afternoon.

Just under half of all counties in the Republic of Ireland will be affected by Status Yellow rain warnings at some point on Good Friday and Easter Saturday on what will be a soaking start to the long weekend. The latest warnings issued by Met Éireann on Friday morning brings to 12 the number of counties affected by three separate alerts, with only the midlands and northern areas expected to escape the worst of the downpours.

The fine weather that dominated the start of April before a recent and unwelcome turn for the worse looks set to make a glorious return before the end of the month. While the current Met Éireann forecast up until early next week doesn’t make for particularly pleasant reading, more promising signs are to be found in the national forecaster's extended range forecast, the most recent of which was published on Tuesday, April 15.
