Condominiums are a very small part of the housing market in Thurston County, but is that about to change? Gov. Bob Ferguson signed into law a condo reform bill this week, and a longtime home builder in Thurston and Lewis counties recently proposed a 24-unit townhome-style condo development at 715 Dennis St. SE and 934 Tumwater Boulevard SE, in Tumwater, according to city of Tumwater information. That might be welcome news for prospective condo buyers because they are hard to come by in this county.

A downtown Olympia lot in the 500 block of Seventh Avenue Southeast has been cleaned up, including removal of the fire-damaged house that used to be there, a check of the property shows. The only thing there now is a lot covered in straw. The house burned about two years ago in a fire that displaced four people, The Olympian reported. So what happens now? The property is privately owned. The Olympian reached out to that owner, but did not hear back from them.

Marc Daily, the longtime executive director of the Thurston Regional Planning Council, announced this week that he is leaving the organization for a new job. His last day is June 3, he said Wednesday. His announcement comes after some recent controversy at TRPC. An advisory body to the council, the Transportation Policy Board, recently recommended that a regional transportation plan be scrubbed of references to equity that the Trump administration has outlawed via executive order.

A 63-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of multiple crimes Monday afternoon, including four counts of assault, following a fight with a UPS store employee in Yelm, Superior Court records show. Around noon Monday, Yelm police were dispatched to the 1200 block of Yelm Avenue East where they found several people standing outside the store. Two store employees, a man and woman, explained what happened, according to the court records.
