SPRINGDALE -- A Springdale man was arrested Wednesday in connection with delivering a fatal dose of drugs to a person in late March. Michael Wade Crump, 32, of West End Street in Springdale, was arrested Wednesday in connection with first-degree death by delivery of a controlled substance and tampering with physical evidence. Crump remained at the Washington County Detention Center on Thursday in lieu of $250,000 bond. Crump is set for arraignment July 9 in Washington County Circuit Court.

FAYETTEVILLE -- A murder charge against a former Washington County sheriff's deputy in connection with a fatal 2023 shooting during a pursuit was amended to a lesser charge of manslaughter earlier this week. Stevon Grindstaff, 29, of Fayetteville was charged by a special prosecutor with first-degree murder and aggravated assault following an investigation by the Arkansas State Police. The inquiry determined the initial account of the Dec. 3, 2023, shooting did not match video evidence.
