Inverclyde Wind Farm (Image: Archive) A WINDFARM in the hills above Greenock will run for 50 years instead of its originally planned 25-year lifespan. Inverclyde Planning Board has approved an application to extend the term for the eight-turbine development near Corlic Hill. The £35m renewable energy development started generating electricity almost four years ago. Its operators recently asked the council to carry on running it beyond the originally agreed timeframe.

Greenock Wanderers home ground Fort Matilda (Image: Archive) LOCAL musician Matthew Barrie is set for a gig at the Greenock Wanderers ground next month. He will be playing at the venue on Saturday July 6 at 7pm with a live band which consists of Leon MacKenzie on lead guitar, Luke Thomson on bass and Adam Brown on drums, with Matthew playing rhythm guitar and signing vocals.

Inverclyde Council HQ (Image: Archive) LICENSING fee income increased in Inverclyde during 2023-24. Council officials say that liquor licensing fees reached £84,091 for the 12-month period, in a slight rise from 2022-23. This was due to an increase in the number of applications being made. The outlay to run the licensing service was £93,529, made of up of staff costs of over £73k plus other expenditure of £20k.
