    Murray's in Port Glasgow has closed after 130 years. (Image: contributed) THE closure of one of Port Glasgow’s best-loved family run shops has been described as a huge blow for the town. The shutters have come down on Murray’s Greengrocers and Florists in Princes Street, known locally as Harry Murray’s, for the final time – after an incredible 130 years. Brothers Gordon and Alistair Murray have run the business themselves for the last 60 years, after taking over from their father.

    2 1/1 A FORMER councillor and parks boss has slammed the council for 'vandalising' a Port Glasgow beauty spot by cutting back the trees. Ninety-year-old Jim Hunter, who also served as depute provost, was in charge of the grounds and parks in the 1970s when they took the decision to plant the trees in the Coronation Park.

The popular Allegria Choir will be hitting the stage for the 'Songs for Shows' which includes numbers from My Fair Lady, Fiddler on the Roof, Calamity Jane, Brigadoon, Guys and Dolls and also some contemporary favourites.
