    MT. MORRIS TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WJRT) - A 28-year-old man died two weeks after he sustained a gunshot wound inside the Family Dollar store at Clio Road and Stewart Avenue. Mt. Morris Township police confirmed Nico Carter Jr. died in a Detroit-area hospital on Friday from injuries sustained in the shooting on April 25. He suffered a gunshot wound to his abdomen during the incident.

    GRATIOT COUNTY, Mich. (WJRT) - A farmer preparing a Gratiot County field for planting found a missing woman's body on Saturday evening. The Gratiot County Sheriff's Office believes the body was a woman who walked away from MyMichigan Medical Center-Alma in February. Her remains were transferred to Genesee County for positive identification. Investigators say the farmer was spraying a field along Alger Road north of M-46 when he discovered the remains around 7:20 p.m. Saturday.

    BEAVERTON, Mich. (WJRT) - Two young Amish girls sustained critical injuries when an SUV hit their buggy in a rural area of Gladwin County on Friday evening. The Gladwin County Sheriff's Office says the buggy was traveling south on Bard Road when a Mount Pleasant man driving a Nissan Versa slammed into the back near Calhoun Road in Beaverton Township around 8:25 p.m.Ambulances rushed girls age 1 and 10, who were riding in the back of the buggy, to MyMichigan Medical Center in Midland.

    MIDLAND COUNTY, Mich. (WJRT) - Two brothers from Midland County have been charged in connection with the 2020 homicide of Thelma Hofmann. Court records show 32-year-old James Hintz and 29-year-old Kody Hintz face several charges, including open murder, for the shooting death of 70-year-old Hofmann in November 2020. Investigators believe she was standing inside the living room of her residence on East Bradford Road in Mount Haley Township when someone outside the house shot her.

    GENESEE COUNTY, Mich. (WJRT) - Two Genesee County residents brought home a lot more than memories from a recent trip to the Upper Peninsula. The members of an organized lottery club won the $2 million top prize in the Michigan Lottery's 100X instant game with a ticket purchased at the Trout Lake Speedy Mart on M-123 in the Upper Peninsula. One of the lottery players has a cabin in the U.P., which they visit often.

For being the seven-time champ and winningest active driver on the @NASCAR Cup circuit, @JimmieJohnson sure is driving like a rookie this week. Crashed someone in every race. Reminds me of the “go hit the pace car” scene in Days of Thunder.
