SALT LAKE CITY — For most of his 20-plus minute introductory presser, Austin Ainge, the Utah Jazz's new president of basketball operations, didn't shy away from details. He spoke at length about how the NBA's new collective bargaining agreement has changed the dynamics of team building. He recounted how a text from Jazz owner Ryan Smith ultimately pulled him away from Boston.

SALT LAKE CITY — The Utah Jazz are keeping things in the family — literally. The Jazz have named Austin Ainge as the team's president of basketball operations, the team announced on Monday. Ainge follows his father, Danny Ainge, to Utah after 17 years with the Boston Celtics organization, where he was most recently the team's assistant general manager. THIS CLOSE TO FREEDOM — This fan almost got away. When fans make their way onto the field — be it at a baseball, soccer or football game — it's usually not long before they get tackled by security or take a tumble during their (oftentimes inebriated) dash of freedom. SALT LAKE CITY — Some prized prospects are heading to Utah. The Utah Mammoth announced Wednesday that they have signed defenseman Dmitri Simashev and forward Daniil But to three-year, entry-level contracts. Both players were high first-round picks in the 2023 NHL draft — Simashev went sixth overall, and But was selected 12th. The duo has been playing in the Kontinental Hockey League, even helping Lokomotiv Yaroslavl win the Gagarin Cup earlier this month.

SALT LAKE CITY — Logan Cooley hasn't quite gotten the full Utah experience yet. When asked to weigh in on a fry sauce debate that had erupted in the press room, the Utah Mammoth forward affirmed that, yes, he did enjoy the Utah staple. Then his face grew quizzical. "Wait, sorry, like, normal fry sauce?" Cooley asked. Reporter: "When you think of fry sauce, what do you think of? Cooley: "Like Chick-fil-A sauce?"A chorus of groans erupted from the press corps.
