NASCAR’s oldest team has its newest winner. Josh Berry won the Pennzoil 400 at Las Vegas Motor Speedway with a commanding run to the checkered flag in the closing laps. It was the first Cup Series win of his career and the 101st for the legendary Wood Brothers Racing, which was founded in 1950 and is NASCAR’s longest-running team. Berry lined up alongside Daniel Suarez for a restart with 19 laps to go and the two ran door-to-door until Berry stuck a pass with 14 to go and never looked back.

William Byron's race at the Brickyard 400 came to a premature end after the Hendrick Motorsports driver suffered a multi-car crash at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway. Byron fell victim to the hard crash triggered by Ryan Preece and retired from the much-awaited race at Indianapolis. The #24 driver took multiple hard hits on the backstretch, lost control of his car, and slammed the wall at high speed on Lap 74. Notably, AJ Allmendinger in his #16 was also involved in the crash.

Bell pitted at the end of Stage 1 and never returned to pit road, staying out at the end of the second stage and inheriting the race lead. He went on to lead the final 100 laps, fending off all challengers and earning his fifth career Cup Series victory. Reddick was the runner-up for the second consecutive year while previous winners of the event Kyle Busch and Joey Logano ended the day with disappointing results. Busch was 32nd and Logano 37th.
