LITTLE ROCK, Ark. – A large portion of people are reportedly without power in Cleburne and White Counties on Friday night. According to PowerOutage.us, 3,599 customers are without power in White County and 2,718 customers are without power in Cleburne County. A post from First Electric Cooperative, which serves those counties, said they are working to diagnose the issue. “We are currently addressing reports of partial outages affecting some members,” the post read.

FORDYCE, Ark. – Saturday marks one year since chaos erupted in Fordyce. Four people died and more than 10 were injured by a gunman at the Mad Butcher grocery store. Though the bullet holes are gone and the days are distant, the memories are fresh. Tilda Leaks and her son were near the Mad Butcher and both thought they heard fireworks. As a fleeing driver told them their cousin was shot, Leaks’ son ran up the road toward the scene.

BENTON, Ark. – Benton police said a woman was severely injured after a dog attack early Friday morning. Benton Police Department said officers responded to the 3000 block of Edison Avenue just before 3:30 a.m. in reference to an animal bite. When they arrived, officers said they found a severely injured woman in the road with multiple lacerations on her arms and legs. Police added that the officers had to keep two dogs at bay while they tended to the woman.

VAN BUREN COUNTY, Ark. – A man in Van Buren County has pleaded guilty to raping a minor after being arrested last year, authorities said. According to Arkansas State Police, 40-year-old Derek Horney pleaded guilty to rape in Van Buren County Court on Monday. He has been sentenced to serve 50 years in the Arkansas Department of Corrections. State police said investigators with the Van Buren County Sheriff’s Office requested that ASP assist in a sexual assault investigation last year.
