All eyes are on the torch and cauldron during the Olympic opening ceremony. When the cauldron is lit, it marks the beginning of the games we've eagerly awaited for four long years. This year, however, there's something quite unique about the cauldron—it doesn't use fire! Yes, you read that right. The cauldron features 40 LED lights and over 200 misting nozzles. These lights create the illusion of fire and smoke, but the "smoke" is actually just a cloud of water vapor.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — The term "Arctic blast," coined by the media refers to a rapid southward push of cold air from the poles, extending beyond its usual reach. The phenomenon is linked to the current phase of the polar vortex or Arctic low within the Arctic Oscillation (AO). The Arctic Oscillation involves a continuous fluctuation between strong and weak areas of low pressure at the poles.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — Hurricane Tammyis turning northeastward over the Atlantic Ocean. Swells will bring rip currents to the Leeward Islands, the British and U.S. Virgin Islands, and Puerto Rico during the next few days. On its forecast track, Tammy is expected to weaken before reaching Bermuda. Tropical Depression 21 formed around 5 p.m. Monday near the southern coast of Nicaragua. It is expected to bring 4 to 8 inches of rain with maximum amounts of 12 inches across Nicaragua.
