Syracuse, N.Y. — Interstate 81 South traffic in Syracuse is being rerouted after a crash Tuesday morning, dispatchers said. At 7:36 a.m. a hit-and-run crash involving a tractor trailer happened near the Exit 18 to Adams Street, according to dispatches from the Onondaga County 911 Center. Dispatchers said the highway was being shut down to reroute traffic.
One person hospitalized after house fire in Oswego

Oswego — One person was hospitalized after a house fire in the city of Oswego on Saturday morning, firefighters said. At 4:06 a.m., firefighters responded to the fire at 293 Cherry St., according to a news release from the Oswego Fire Department. When firefighters arrived they found a home fully engulfed in flames and police helping the resident in a side yard, firefighters said. The resident was taken by ambulance to Oswego Hospital with minor injuries, firefighters said.

Nineveh, N.Y. — Two Upstate New York brothers have been arrested because one had child pornography and the other sexually abused a cow, troopers said. On April 4, troopers arrested Christopher A. Banks, 37 of Nineveh (Broome County), after a search warrant was executed at his home, said Trooper Aga Tinker, a spokesperson for State Police. Troopers found images consistent with child sexual exploitation and charged him with possessing a sexual performance by a child, Tinker said.
Fire rips through one house, spreads to another in Syracuse

Syracuse, N.Y. — Syracuse firefighters are battling a fire that engulfed one home in the city’s Skunk City neighborhood and spread to a second one. The fire is in the 100 block of Herriman Street between Grand Avenue and Fitch Street. The fire was reported at 2:39 p.m., according to the Onondaga County 911 Center. Ambulance crews on the scene are treating a man and checking out two cats and a dog. Police have closed Grand Avenue and Herriman Street.

Utica, N.Y. — A Central New York man had nearly a pound of fentanyl, illegal guns and almost $10,000 in cash when federal investigators searched his home in February, according to a criminal complaint filed this week. Douglas Smallwood Jr., 24, is accused of selling drugs out of his Miller Street home in Utica, according to local police and federal prosecutors.
