KALISPELL, Mont. — It’s been nearly a year since Emily Rea went missing on the Hungry Horse Reservoir. Now, her family is back in Montana, refusing to give up hope. They’re hosting a rally in Whitefish Saturday to reignite the search. Rea hasn't been seen since July 16, 2024. The Flathead County Sheriff’s Office believes she went missing near the Riverside Boating and Camping area. Rea’s car was found in the boat launch parking lot, and her paddle board was found on July 17, more than 2 miles away.

KALISPELL, Mont. — Montana is a popular destination for Canadian tourists but now those numbers are slipping. “One of our key markets for travel for Kalispell and the Flathead Valley has always been our Canadian neighbors,” said Diane Medler, executive director for Discover Kalispell. Montana is home to 13 ports of entry between the United States and Canada. The primary gateway to the Flathead is the Roosville port near Eureka. “They're known to come here and to shop and to recreate,” said Medler.

BIGFORK, Mont. — The Bigfork Fire District board of trustees approved a bond initiative and mill levy for a special election in September. “The Bigfork Fire Department is a small department,” said Al Benitez, public information officer for the Bigfork Fire Department. “With our limited budget we’ve been struggling for years to be able to maintain a high level of service to our community.”The Bigfork Fire Department says its three current stations are in poor condition.

KALISPELL, Mont. — Candidate filing is underway for municipal elections coming up in November. Bruce Guthrie, a longtime Flathead Valley resident, announced he’s running for Ward 4 on the Kalispell City Council. Guthrie has lived in the area for 28 years. He’s a former high school history and English teacher and now teaches online and at Flathead Valley Community College. Guthrie also leads historic walking tours through downtown Kalispell with the Northwestern History Museum.
