Grimsby Town were held to a 0-0 draw away at MK Dons in their final away game of the regular league season. Results elsewhere meant that the Mariners lost seventh position to Salford City on goal difference after they beat fellow play-off chaser Colchester United 4-1. However, AFC Wimbledon’s defeat to Port Vale means a win for Town against them at Blundell Park on the final day, will take them into the play-offs at their opponents' expense.

Grimsby Town let another two-goal lead slip away from home to draw 2-2 with Port Vale on Easter Monday. A Danny Rose double had the Mariners cruising at Vale Park early in the second half, but Lorent Tolaj and then Jesse Debrah, with virtually the last kick of the game, snatched a point for the hosts. On the positive side, the point was still enough to take Town back into the play-offs, with Colchester United losing at Doncaster Rovers.

It was a disastrous start to the Easter weekend for Grimsby Town as they fell to a 4-0 defeat at home to Swindon Town. Ian Holloway’s side were ruthless with their opportunities and kept the Mariners quiet. Colchester United’s goalless draw against Crewe Alexandra saw the former jump up into the final play-off spot on goal difference at Town’s expense.

David Artell believes Grimsby Town were the architects of their own downfall against Harrogate Town as they surrendered a two-goal lead late on to draw 2-2. The Mariners boss was left frustrated that Kieran Green’s wonder goal did not lead to a victory for his side. His and Jason Dadi Svanthorsson’s first-half strikes were cancelled out by two late goals for the hosts.

Grimsby Town will hunt for their fourth win in five games to keep on the play-off pace as they travel to North Yorkshire to face Harrogate Town on Saturday. The Mariners will hope to create more space between them and those chasing them down for the final play-off spot with Colchester United just three points behind. Ninth-placed Crewe Alexandra’s defeat to Cheltenham Town on Friday night gives David Artell’s side a chance to go seven clear of them with a win at the weekend.

Not to be this time, but the foundations have been laid. #GTFC https://t.co/HsdLTNL3MR

AFC Wimbledon did what they needed to get the result as the away side, and the response just wasn't there from Town. A disappointing end coming so close to the play-offs, but a season of progress nonetheless that can hopefully be built on. #GTFC

Still thinking about that chance for Rosey - great run and cross from Kieran Green, and you'd expect the skipper to put it away with his head. It feels like the goal is coming for Town, though, if they can keep up this level of intensity. Fingers and toes crossed! #GTFC
