Fairport, a village on the Erie Canal, has been named the fourth-hottest neighborhood in the United States by Redfin, a popular real estate brokerage platform. The village that just over 5,000 people call home made the ranking of the 10 hottest American communities alongside Brooklyn’s Prospect Heights and San Francisco’s Polk Gulch.

Manchester, N.Y. — A popular Finger Lakes restaurant was forced to close this week after a driver plowed into the diner and left a gaping hole in the building. The driver was intoxicated, troopers said, and drove away after crashing into Jack’s Kitchen. Troopers have asked the public for help finding a missing man last seen in the Adirondacks. The New York State Police started searching for Patrick M. Poirier at 5:08 p.m. Friday after a friend told troopers they were concerned about the 39-year-old man’s “well-being,” troopers said in a news release. Poirier is from Bentonville, Arkansas, but has ties to Plattsburgh. His truck, a white 2025 Ford Maverick, was last spotted in Crown Point traveling east toward Vermont, troopers said.

Pine Plains, N.Y. — One of the oldest taverns in the United States is home to one of the food world’s newest darlings. Stissing House, a restaurant housed in a 243-year-old tavern in Upstate New York, has been named one of the best dining destinations in the nation by Food & Wine. The eatery was one of only 15 restaurants to make the list selected with input from hundreds of experts. The two-story building Stissing House calls home was built in 1782 near the end of the Revolutionary War.
