CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — The Whooping Crane festival is taking place this weekend in Port Aransas. The event has been a tradition since 1996 and is celebrating its 27th anniversary. It is a celebration of the crane's yearly return to their wintering habitat at the Aransas National Wildlife Refuge. Man stabbed in leg, woman arrested in Kingsville stabbing Tuesday afternoon

CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — Kingsville police are investigating after a 21-year-old man was stabbed in the leg Tuesday afternoon. Police officials say they arrived to the Connell Villa housing complex Tuesday where they found the young man who had been stabbed. Two women were detained and taken in for questioning. One of them was arrested for aggravated assault and an unrelated outstanding warrant. She remains in the Kleberg County Jail.

CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — A press conference was held Friday morning for the Coastal Bend Sports Hall of Fame and Awards Show. Athletes, coaches and sports enthusiasts will celebrate Coastal Bend athletes from across 11 counties and their achievements or local sports contributions. The inaugural event will take place June 6 at the American Bank Center. Executive Director of the Corpus Christi Sports Commission Joey Jewell told 3NEWS this is something he wanted to do since arriving to the city.
Former Rockport basketball coach receives 32-year prison sentence for child pornography

CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — Former Rockport basketball coach Mark Malone was sentenced to 32 years in federal prison Friday afternoon. He was found guilty on 22 counts of child pornography Thursday. Malone was the girls varsity basketball coach at Rockport-Fulton High School back in 2020. Authorities say there is no evidence that any students from the Rockport-Fulton area are victims in this case.

He was 15 years old. 3NEWS spoke with CCISD District Coordinator Courtney Rios who wanted students to know that there is always help available, all they have to do is ask for it. CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — The Corpus Christi Municipal Court will be holding a two-week amnesty period before their "Warrant Roundup," starting Feb. 19 where individuals with warrants can go in to pay their tickets or set up a payment plan without fear of being arrested. Individuals can address their case from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday for two weeks after the start date at the municipal court on North Chaparral Street.
