Bekah Nethken-Ulrich, who's 28 weeks pregnant with her second child, said she's had complications with her pregnancy that's hastened the closing of her restaurant at 4692 Cottage Grove Road. "She's wreaking havoc on my body, just like, straight up," Nethken-Ulrich said about the baby she's carrying.

Touch of Ukraine, which was opened by three Ukrainian immigrants who came to Madison after Russia attacked their country, is closing May 31. After the Russian invasion in 2022, Gary Gorman, of Gorman & Co. sponsored 12 Ukrainian refugees to come to Madison and helped some of them open of Touch of Ukraine in July 2023. Gorman is the property management group that developed Union Corners on the East Side, where the restaurant is located. "The Ukrainians are such wonderful people," he said.
Level 5 Donuts sell out quickly in first days as brick-and-mortar shop

The owners of Level 5 Donuts began selling their vegan donuts out of their new East Side location Saturday and sold out within four hours. Aaron Mooney, who runs the counter-service bakery with his wife, Caitlin Rockey, said they sold 1,200 donuts on Saturday and an equal amount on Sunday in the same amount of time. "It was quite the overwhelmingly positive response, and it really warmed our hearts that people showed up for us and that we have such support," he said.

Cottage Grove police have identified and arrested a man they say was driving the vehicle that hit and killed a woman out walking her dog Monday. Jeffrey M. Endres, 49, was taken to Dane County Jail on tentative charges of first-degree reckless homicide, first degree reckless injury and first degree recklessly endangering safety, Chief Mark W. Garry II said at a press conference Thursday.
