Latin American cookbook by Sandra Gutierrez for Knopf. Photo by Kevin J. Miyazaki. Kevin Miyazaki This is a Cuban-inspired picadillo that features the grassy flavor of cumin, brininess from salty olives, and a touch of piquancy from capers. I say the same thing every December: there were so many really good new cookbooks published this year. And 2023 is no exception. The stacks of books in my office have almost covered the windows, and I need every bit of early winter light I can get.
