PRAIRIEVILLE - Ascension Public Schools recently graduated its first class out of a program designed to recruit young people into the fire service. The program comes as a partnership with the Prairieville Fire Department. Students in the program attend classes at the fire department during the school year, and leave the program with four nationally recognized certifications.

BATON ROUGE - One family is looking for a driver who hit their Tesla after a church fair on Saturday night, believing the incident to be politically motivated. Tesla owner Jose Mendoza said his family was making their way back to the car after an evening at the Mercy Fair. Their car, a blue Tesla, sat alone with few other vehicles in the parking lot. "I was approaching my car when I saw a Jeep near my car, really didn't think too much of it. Then, I saw it back up," Mendoza said.

DONALDSONVILLE - On Thursday, LDEQ, Ascension residents, Donaldsonville City officials and plant leaders discussed a proposed ammonia plant at a hearing. Clean Hydrogen Works is the group developing the Ascension Clean Energy project, an ammonia plant that would be based near Modeste. According to its website, the plant will produce 7.2 tons of ammonia annually. The plant is to be part of the RiverPlex MegaPark, outside Donaldsonville's city limits.

BATON ROUGE - One thrift store in Baton Rouge is seeing firsthand the impact of tariffs and higher prices, saying shoppers are looking to save. The Purple Cow thrift store has seen an increase in business since the beginning of the year, said General Manager Tonya Seymour. "People are trying to hold onto their money and get more with their money," Seymour said. Seymour said people are looking for ways to cut costs, not quality.

ADDIS - Residents in Addis are cleaning up after storms on Thursday left several with flood damage. Addis resident Hannah Smith said she saw water begin to rise around 7 a.m. She said she was able to get her three children out of their townhome. "Couple minutes after that, the water started rushing in the front door. Then, it was rushing in the back door. Then, it was rushing underneath the windows. I don't even know how it was coming underneath the windows.
