GEISMAR - Ascension Parish resident Jeff Seeger is getting off the dating apps by getting onto billboards. In March, Seeger started running his face, name and website on a billboard in Geismar, with hopes of meeting women to date. "I've been running the sign for about a month now, thought it would be a crazy idea. The dating apps hadn't been working for me, figured I'd take to a billboard to see if I could drum up some women," Seeger said.

INDEPENDENCE - A seafood company with years of complaints promised to fix facility issues at a special meeting on Thursday night in Independence. The town council passing a motion to give the seafood company Big Easy Foods and Gulf Island Shrimp and Seafood 30 days to fix the problem, otherwise the town will pull it's permits. GEISMAR - On Wednesday night, Ascension Parish and National Water Infrastructure revealed the location of the new regional wastewater treatment plant at an open house. This comes after a 2OYS investigation caused NWI to pull the project from its original location. The new alternative site is located along Ashland Road, near River Road in Geismar. Ascension Parish District Three Councilman Travis Turner said the parish needs a regional sewer system, but the original plan was met with backlash.

BATON ROUGE - Crawfish To Geaux, a crawfish food truck located on Nicholson Drive, opened this month and is getting attention for being owned and operated by LSU students. Cole Capdeboscq owns Crawfish To Geaux. He said he is learning lessons not taught in class. "I've learned is expect nothing to go right and if it does, be grateful," Capdeboscq said. Capdeboscq and his crew sort, season and serve upwards of a thousand pounds of crawfish a day. "On a weekend, we could do 30-40 sacks a day.
