State Troopers are investigating after a fatal hit-and-run incident Wednesday night. BRUNSWICK COUNTY, NC (WWAY) — State Troopers are investigating after a fatal hit-and-run incident Wednesday night. It happened just after 8:30 p.m. on NC 904 at SR 1312 in the Longwood area of Brunswick County. A pedestrian, identified as 80-year old Joseph Willis Butler of Shallotte, was crossing the road to help a vehicle that had gone into the ditch.

LELAND, NC (WWAY) — North Carolina State Highway Patrol arrested a woman overnight Thursday in connection with the fatal hit and run involving a bicyclist. State Troopers arrested 41-year old Maria Concepcion Cardona Alejo just after midnight Thursday morning. Alejo is facing multiple charges, including felony hit and run causing serious bodily injury. On Tuesday, 20-year-old Michael Archuleta was riding on Blue Banks Loop Road near Mount Misery Road when a vehicle hit him from behind, killing him.
