    South Perth residents have called on the City of South Perth council to urgently consider options to preserve private trees after Planning Minister John Carey rejected a proposal to protect large trees on private properties. Last Friday Mr Carey announced on ABC radio that he would be formally rejecting bids from the City of Nedlands and City of South Perth to change their planning schemes to require development approval to remove significant trees from private residential properties.
