AMHERST, N.Y. (WIVB) — Two teens are facing charges for allegedly shoving a nun to the ground and stealing her car. Police said the alleged carjacking happened as the nun was arriving for school in Amherst. The incident happened just before 9 a.m. on April 10 at the Buffalo Academy of the Sacred Heart on Main Street, where the nun teaches. According to police, the teens approached her, asked for help and then grabbed her keys, shoved her and stole the vehicle.

(WIVB) — Local pharmacies are seeing a surge in patients searching for a new place to fill their prescriptions after Rite Aid announced 68 locations in Western New York will close their doors. “Very stressful times. CHAUTAUQUA COUNTY, N.Y. (WIVB) — Questions are being raised about the possibility of an accused murderer being responsible a cold case from 1978 that took place in Chautauqua County. There are over 20 unsolved cases in Chautauqua County involving women who have gone missing or were murdered. “There’s a lot of work to be done, a lot of files to be read,” said Chautauqua County Sheriff Jim Quattrone.

BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) — Businesses on Chippewa Street in Buffalo experienced the first weekend of the street being closed to traffic at night, a recently implemented change to help keep the city’s nightlife safer. The change came after three people were stabbed in a large fight on Chippewa Street last weekend, but a city spokesperson said the traffic changes “were not directly in response to the stabbing” and that discussions had been taking place for weeks.

CLARENCE, N.Y. (WIVB) — Around 100 children in Buffalo are sleeping more comfortably after receiving a handcrafted bed from the Sleep in Heavenly Peace Buffalo chapter, which held its sixth “Bunks Across Buffalo” event on Saturday. Since its creation in 2020, by July the Buffalo chapter will have provided around 6,000 beds to local children. “It’s a great cause to help give back to the less fortunate, and we just do what we can here,” said volunteer Matt Mackey.
