The season is starting to turn. Lawnmowers are buzzing, the air smells like barbecue, and suddenly the herbs in the garden are out of control. Here are a few things to love before summer officially begins. Peonies and poppies. Whatever’s piled high in a bucket that day, just grab it. One pretty bunch placed anywhere in the house makes the place feel festive and bright. Or break them up and make a few small bouquets for every room. Strawberries are hitting their stride.

Father’s Day is coming up, and if you’re looking for something local to give or do, we pulled together a few ideas. We know the day can be complicated. Not everyone celebrates, and not every relationship with a father is easy. If you’re honoring someone this year, whether it’s a dad, stepdad, uncle, mentor or anyone who has shown up in that role, here are some fun picks. Take him to a Mariners game. Grab a sumo dog and a seat in the sun, $50+.

All you need are some sneakers and a record-breaking spirit. On Sunday, June 15, Seattle will attempt to set a new Guinness World Record for the largest soccer lesson. The goal is to bring together more than 1,000 people for a 30-minute session led by alumni from Sounders FC and Reign FC. The current record stands at 956 participants, set by the San Jose Earthquakes in 2023.
